The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, in cooperation with the National Coordinating Subcommittee on Prevention and Combating Corruption, announced, on Thursday, the launch of a national media campaign to combat corruption, in light of the relentless efforts made by Egypt to combat corruption.
The office statement stated that this campaign will be broadcasted intensively more than 650 times per day through several local and private TV channels, during times of peak television viewing, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
The campaign includes the announcement of a new hotline for reporting corruption cases in order to urge citizens to resist and reject corruption, as part of Egypt's implementation of its national anti-corruption strategy, and it will continue to broadcast until the end of July of this year.
The campaign includes 4 public service ads, each of which addresses a form of corruption such as price manipulation to achieve more profit and corruption in the education and health sectors, as well as a song broadcast next week, with the aim of changing the negative images of the forms of corruption presented by public service advertisements and instilling positive behaviors contrasted with them in Scenes, the campaign also includes a billboard that will be installed over the next few weeks and also an infographic that will be prepared soon, with the aim of providing viewers with more information about corruption.
This is the second anti-corruption campaign prepared by the office, as the first campaign was launched during Ramadan last year and was watched by more than 55 million people.
It is noteworthy that the office began providing technical assistance to Egypt to support its efforts in combating corruption through the project "Supporting Anti-Corruption and Money Laundering Measures, and Promoting Asset Recovery in Egypt" since 2011, funded by the European Union and the Republic of Canada.
The office enjoys fruitful cooperation with the Administrative Control Authority, the Ministry of Interior, the Public Prosecution and the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Unit, while it has organized about 55 workshops and training courses on topics closely related to combating corruption, with the participation of more than 2,250 representatives of the concerned national authorities, with the aim of enhancing their capabilities to combat corruption.
