The Supreme State Security Prosecution in Zagazig city decided to imprison the head of the court for 4 days pending investigations, and two former parliamentarians, on charges of financial bribery to reduce a court ruling issued against an accused from the death penalty to life sentence, in the case of premeditated murder.

The Administrative Control had arrested “S.G.” (head of a court in Zagazig) in the act of taking a monetary bribe, after the mediation of two former parliamentarians from the dissolved National Party, in a café in the city of Zagazig, with a sum of money estimated at 300 thousand pounds in advance of the bribe.

The investigations, administrative control, and Supreme State Security investigations revealed that the former deputies, one from Minya al-Qamh and the other from Menoufia, had mediated the judge to reduce a sentence issued against a person accused of death, to life sentence, in one of the willful cases that are before the accused judge.

They were referred to the Supreme State Security Prosecution, which issued a decision to imprison them for 4 days pending investigations.
