Within the framework of the “Corruption Status Book” series, “Partners for Transparency” PFT continues to issue monthly reports to monitor and follow up incidents of corruption, and here is the sixth report issued by the institution, as it focuses on monitoring and analyzing legislative and procedural developments related to combating corruption, as well as an inventory of the facts it addressed Various media outlets during the month of December 2015.

The report detected 87 corruption incidents during the month, a slight decrease from last month (November 2015), with the catering sector continuing to be at the top of the list in terms of the number of corruption incidents that are revealed.

Legislative measures to combat corruption during the month of December:

During the month of December 2015, many seminars, training workshops and meetings were held in some governorates and ministries to confirm the state’s plans and efforts in combating corruption, as well as the presence of various statements by government officials, headed by Prime Minister “Sherif Ismail”, in which he stressed that the government spares no effort in Fighting corruption and working on activating the role of various regulatory agencies, as he witnessed President “Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi” directives for the governors to work to raise the rates of development and fight corruption within state agencies, especially localities. Friday, December 4:

  • The Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Yasser Al-Qadi, confirmed that the ministry is working during the current period on a new project under the name “Combating Corruption and Integrating the Informal Economy into the Formal Economy”, as part of the government's endeavor to confront corruption electronically and with technological means.
  • The Coordinating Subcommittee on Combating Corruption at Alexandria University organized a symposium entitled “The Role of Legal Departments in Combating Corruption”, in “Dr. Jalal Al-Adawi” Hall, at the Faculty of Law, Alexandria University.

Saturday, December 5:

  • The training course “Combating Financial and Administrative Corruption” started, headed by Dr. Ramadan Al-Tantawi, President of Damietta University, within the framework of implementing the university's strategic plan to combat corruption 2015-2017, and the main axes included in the plan.

Sunday, December 6:

  • The South Sinai Culture Branch of the Canal and Sinai Cultural District organized a lecture on “Fighting Corruption”, headed by researcher “Saeed Al-Hamshari”, President of the region, in cooperation with the Directorate of Youth and Sports in South Sinai, and the lecture was entitled “Together to Eliminate Corruption”.

Wednesday, December 9:

  • The Committee for the Implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategic Plan in Beni Suef Governorate held its first meeting in the Governorate General Hall. The committee discussed the main objectives of the plan, the implementation steps and policies, the person responsible for its implementation, the timeframe for it, the person responsible for follow-up, and the performance indicators in this regard.

Thursday, December 10:

  • The Matrouh Media Center, in cooperation with the Egyptian Center for Combating Corruption, held a preliminary meeting to prepare the first forum for the National Anti-Corruption Strategy, which will be held in Matrouh Governorate.

Sunday, December 19:

  • The Ras Sidr Culture House held an awareness-raising cultural lecture entitled “Terrorism and the fight against corruption”. Monday, December 21:

Thursday, December 24:
