A number of jurists commented on the random arrest campaigns carried out by the Ministry of the Interior, yesterday, Thursday, and Friday, saying that this campaign will inflame citizens' anger and increase the chances of participation more than expected.
Sherif Hilali, Executive Director of the Arab Foundation for Supporting Civil Society and Human Rights, said that what happened in the random arrests is a violation of the rights of citizens, and it is a preemption for what will happen on April 25, especially that these people did not do a bad thing in violation of the law.
Hilali added to Masrawy, that this step escalates the state of tension that exists mainly after the crisis of the islands of Tiran and Sanafir, stressing that this is a return to the principle of inspection of intentions to thwart the attempts to demonstrate on the 25th, pointing out that this will lead to a reverse action and push people to descend.
He continued: "We are with the right of everyone to express an opinion and demonstrate peacefully. It was necessary to give the different people a chance to express their opinion, as well as the supporters if they have the intention to demonstrate, because it is the right of every person."
For his part, Walaa Jad al-Karim, director of Partners for Transparency, said that if this campaign has anything to do with the calls to demonstrate on April 25th, then it is "calamitous," and if the state arrested these people in connection with the calls, then it is indicted.
He added to Masrawy: “The right to demonstrate is guaranteed to every person, and the state has the right to reject the request to demonstrate after its submission, but pre-emptive measures are unacceptable, pointing out that he personally followed the names of those arrested and there are among them names that are difficult to relate to anything that harms the state,” according to Saying.
He continued, "The demonstrations on April 25 are not a crime at all, and we reject any detention or arbitrary action without permission from a prosecutor or a specific charge."
Meanwhile, Naguib Gabriel, head of the Egyptian Federation for Human Rights, expressed any attempt to indiscriminately arrest people, explaining that he is helping foreign attacks on Egypt from countries and human rights organizations.
Gabriel added to Masrawy, that what is happening is like “pouring gasoline on the fire of the human rights file in Egypt,” as it increases sympathy and thus participation in these calls.
He added: "What happened has to do with the calls of April 25 and security expectations of what will happen today, but the self-confident does not fear on the 25th or other."
The security forces carried out a campaign of indiscriminate arrest of young people in cafes and activists' homes, due to calls to demonstrate on April 25.
