Today, Partners for Transparency participated in the consultative session of civil society organizations with the Human Rights Committee concerned with the implementation of the Civil Covenant for Political and Civil Rights in its 137th session regarding the review of Egypt's file on civil and political rights held at the United Nations in Geneva
Mirna Shalash, Executive Director of Partners for Transparency Foundation, gave an oral intervention. She welcomed Egypt's submission of its fifth report to the committee, and praised the recent measures and good practices that the Egyptian government embarked on to combat corruption, combat human trafficking, and work on equality and non-discrimination, as Partners noted that There is an insistence by the Constitution Drafting Committee in Egypt to put an article on combating corruption in the constitution, and in this way Article 218 of the constitution came to stipulate the state’s commitment to combating corruption, and in implementation of this article, Egypt launched the national anti-corruption strategy, which the United Nations General Secretariat considered a practice Good and successful efforts for Egypt in preventing and combating corruption
And the Partners Foundation recommended the need to consider establishing a corruption prevention committee entrusted with activating Law 106 of 2013 regarding the prohibition of conflicts of interest among state officials, and completing the digital transformation of all government services provided to citizens to reduce the phenomenon of corruption.
Mirna Shalash called for sponsoring a community dialogue to pass the law on the right to access information, official data and statistics, and circulate them in a way that contributes to achieving the goals of the national anti-corruption strategy and the human rights strategy.
