Nineteenth Report, “January 2017

66 incidents of corruption and the statements of the officials were not translated into action

Within the framework of “Corruption Logbook” series “Partners for transparency” (PFT) issued the nineteenth report which included the monitoring and analysis of the incidents of corruption in the month of January 2017, where the organization spotted 66 incident of corruption during the month that have been detected by the various stakeholders.
While there has been no change in the regulatory or institutional environment of anti – corruption, this month only witnessed frequent remarks here and there to a number of officials all talking about the fight against corruption, without being  translated into action.
The Ministry of Supply still occupies the first place among the incidents of corruption with 16 incidents, followed by the local sector with 11 incidents of corruption, then the Ministries of Education, Agriculture and Health with 6 facts for each of them and then the Ministries of Information, Endowment and Electricity with two incidents for each of them.
Concerning the judicial position, the report has revealed that the incidents under investigation still occupies the first place among the incidents of corruption during the month of January 2017, where the largest proportion recorded a rate of 76%, followed by the incidents that are in trial with 23% of the total incidents and the incidents that were judged in the last ranking with 1%.
As for the geographical distribution, Cairo governorate is still occupying the biggest share of the incidents of corruption, where it witnessed 21 incidents of corruption, followed by Qaliubiya with 6 facts, then by both of Giza and Sharkia province with 5 facts for both of them, while Behera, Menofeya, Gharebeya, Assiut and new valley governorates witnessed three facts for each of them.
