Within the framework of the “Corruption Status Book” series, Partners for Transparency (PFT) issued the eleventh report, which included monitoring and analysis of corruption incidents in May 2016, as the Foundation monitored 101 corruption incidents during the month, which were revealed by investigation authorities and the media. The foundation said in a statement today: The month of May 2016 witnessed the disclosure of a major corruption case, the hero of which was the advisor to the current Minister of Health, where the man was arrested in the act of taking a bribe after secret moves by the Administrative Control Authority, which revealed the strength and speed of his movements in the past months to pursue the corrupt. The month of May also witnessed several traditional statements and meetings of government officials related to combating corruption, while legislative procedures were absent for the eleventh consecutive month despite the passage of nearly six months since the start of the current session of the Egyptian Parliament.

And she continued: With regard to the statistical distribution of corruption incidents among the various ministries and sectors, the Ministry of Agriculture had the largest share of corruption incidents during May 2016 with a score of 17 corruption incidents, followed by the Ministry of Supply with 15 corruption incidents, followed by the local sector with 12 incidents of corruption, followed by the Ministry of Interior 8 Facts, after that come each of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources with 5 incidents of corruption for each of them.

And she said: As for the judicial position, the report revealed that the incidents under investigation came in first place among corruption incidents during the month of May 2016, as it received the largest percentage of 67 % out of a total of 101 incidents, followed by the incidents that were not investigated by 17 % Trial with a score of 15%, the cases that have been adjudicated are ranked last with a score of 1% of all incidents.

For his part, Dr. Walaa Jad Al-Karim, General Manager of Partners for Transparency, stated that the Foundation has succeeded so far in maintaining the periodicity of issuing its monthly report to monitor and analyze corruption incidents for the eleventh month in a row, and is currently working on developing a general concept for a combined report that the foundation will issue next July It includes tracking the most famous and most important incidents of corruption that were revealed during the last period, what are the legal measures taken towards them, and the impact of the current legal frameworks on the progress of these cases. Jad Al-Karim also emphasized that Partners for Transparency seeks from behind this to develop its capabilities In the field of monitoring and documentation, and adding a greater degree of depth to its reports and publications in a way that helps all stakeholders adopt sound positions regarding the phenomenon of corruption.
