Within the framework of the “Corruption Status Book” series, “Partners for Transparency” PFT issued the fourteenth report, which included monitoring and analysis of corruption incidents in the month of August 2016, as the Foundation monitored 83 corruption incidents during the month, which are the facts that were revealed through the investigation authorities and Parliament and various media.
The month of August 2016 witnessed the continued disclosure of the details of the corruption of wheat silos, as the fact-finding committee set up by Parliament estimated the amount of wheat supplied as a fake supply of approximately 2 million tons, which is equivalent to approximately 5.6 billion pounds, and accordingly the resignation of the former Minister of Supply Khaled was accepted. At the level of facts, the Ministry of Supply achieved the largest share of corruption incidents during August 2016 with 17 incidents of corruption out of a total of 64 incidents, followed by the Ministry of Agriculture with 10 incidents of corruption, after that comes the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology with a score of 9 incidents of corruption, followed by the Ministry of Interior with a score of 8 Incidents, followed by the local sector with 7 incidents, followed by the Ministry of Education and Investment with 5 incidents of corruption for each of them, and then the Ministry of Housing with 3 incidents of corruption.
As for the judicial position, the report revealed that the incidents under investigation came in first place among corruption incidents during August 2016, where it received the largest percentage of 78% out of a total of 83 incidents, followed by the incidents that were judged by 10 %, then the incidents under trial came at a rate of 8 % Finally, the incidents that were not investigated ranked last, with a ratio of 4 % of the total number of incidents.
As for the geographical distribution, Cairo governorate still occupies the largest share of corruption incidents during the month of August 2016 due to the concentration of administrative headquarters in it, where it received 24 corruption incidents, followed by Giza governorate with 13 incidents, then Sharkia and Qena with 6 incidents of corruption for each of them.
