Partners for Transparency issued its new report in the “Corruption Status Book” series in its new form, covering the month of August 2017, which includes a different analysis and analysis of corruption incidents and new sections of the report issued by the Foundation more than two years ago.

The August 2017 report included a new section entitled “Those who fell in the mud ... stories on the sidelines of the notebook”, which dealt with the most important incidents of corruption witnessed in the past month, shed light on the perpetrators and the circumstances and contexts related to the case, and provided an in-depth analysis of the incident and linked it to similar incidents in the past. Then a vision of the required procedural and legislative reforms; So as not to repeat that incident in the future.

Under the title “Iron Women Fall in the Mud of Corruption”, the report dealt with the story of the rise and fall of Souad El-Khouly, Deputy Governor of Alexandria, who was arrested by Administrative Control on charges of bribery and damaging public money and profit. Under the title “Corrupt in the niche of justice ... the Alexandria judge is a new black point in the white dress.” The report dealt with the dimensions of the incident of the head of the Alexandria Misdemeanor Court on charges of receiving a bribe, in exchange for the verdict in favor of one of the defendants in the case before him, and finally under the title “Taxes and Customs ... Sovereign state revenues pay the bill for corruption ”The report dealt with incidents of corruption in two of the most important bodies of the Ministry of Finance, which are the two bodies responsible for collecting the sovereign resources of the Egyptian state,“ taxes and customs ”.

Statistically, the report indicated that the month of August witnessed 60 corruption incidents, 18% of which were in the supply sector, 101 TP1T in each of the health and finance sectors, and 81 TP1T in each of the localities, communications, information technology, education, agriculture and justice sectors, while the endowment, interior, transport, public business and electricity sectors witnessed And trade, industry, unions and culture combined 20% of facts.

Geographically, Cairo Governorate still witnessed the largest number of corruption incidents during August 2017, as it witnessed 30% incidents of corruption that were monitored during the month, followed by Giza Governorate with 12% incidents, then Beheira Governorate 10 % incidents.

As for the most prominent thing in the August report, it is related to the estimated financial cost of corruption incidents. The report indicated that the value of the estimated cost of corruption incidents that were seized during August from embezzlement, bribery and wasting public money amounted to nearly 140 million pounds, specifically the value of the amounts The announced in some - but not all - of the incidents 139 million and 944 thousand and 620 pounds, which is a preliminary estimate, and the arrests of some officials of the customs and tax authorities have acquired the largest percentage of this cost.
