The Economist unit of British information and Partners for Transparency International released its latest rankings for 2016 on indicators of corruption and democracy in the world. According to the report, Egypt ranked 108 in the corruption index out of 176 countries around the world, with a rate of 968 corruption incidents during 2016, down 20 places from 2015, but the number of its points decreased only two points, and it also fell to 133rd in the democracy index. At the same time, most Arab countries have achieved a significant decline in the international index and an increase in corruption rates, as there is not a single Arab country on the list of the first twenty countries in the world, while the bottom of the list is crowded with more than 7 Arab countries, led by Egypt. The Transparency International report stated that 69% of the 176 countries ranked in the global ranking in the corruption index did not reach the ceiling of 50 points on the Corruption Perceptions Index for the past year, which is the rate on which the country is considered one of the countries with a good rate in fighting corruption.
