The Economist unit of British information and Partners for Transparency International released its latest rankings for 2016 on indicators of corruption and democracy in the world. According to the report, Egypt ranked 108 in the corruption index out of 176 countries around the world, with a rate of 968 corruption incidents during 2016, down 20 places from 2015, but the number of its points decreased only two points, and it also fell to 133rd in the democracy index. At the same time, most Arab countries have achieved a significant decline in the international index and an increase in corruption rates, as there is not a single Arab country on the list of the first twenty countries in the world, while the bottom of the list is crowded with more than 7 Arab countries, led by Egypt. The Transparency International report stated that 69% of the 176 countries ranked in the global ranking in the corruption index did not reach the ceiling of 50 points on the Corruption Perceptions Index for the past year, which is the rate on which the country is considered one of the countries with a good rate in fighting corruption. The Administrative Control Authority has had a remarkable activity in controlling incidents of corruption in various sectors of the state during the past year, and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has been given, since he assumed power, many powers of the Authority, which were guaranteed by the articles of the Egyptian constitution, in accordance with international charters and conventions to combat corruption, What had a significant impact in uncovering many cases, after the authority was transformed into an independent oversight body. Al-Tahrir spotted the bill for corruption within one week only .. The surprise was that more than 13.6 billion pounds of public money were wasted in incidents of receiving bribes and thefts of support funds, and the Administrative Control Authority had the largest role in controlling these incidents with sound and image. Al-Salam neighborhood, the last of those incidents, was the first housing manager of Al-Salam district while he was taking a bribe, as well as the seizure of one of the Finance Minister’s advisors for real estate taxes, the bribe provider, the producer of the “Home Your Home” program, and a third mediator caught red-handed by taking a bribe of one million pounds out of 4 million from the owner of a contracting company in exchange for manipulating the value of Land of a tourist village, which would have wasted 500 million pounds on the state treasury. Administrative control also reserved 16,800 tons of wheat imported from Ukraine for being non-conforming to specifications and unfit for human consumption, at a value of EGP 90 million, until the governor of Menoufia issued a decision to close the "White Flower" mills in Sadat.
13 billion pounds
The Administrative Control Authority was able to control the largest operation to seize public money, in Case No. 37 of 2017, and arrested the largest gang formation that managed to steal 13 billion pounds of support money in Ismailia because of the fake withdrawal on exchange machines.
