For the first time in Egypt, "Partners for Transparency" is monitoring electoral spending

Partners for Transparency launched an initiative under the slogan “Our Voices Against Your Money” to monitor electoral financing and spending in a number of electoral districts, for the first time in Egypt.

The initiative “Our Voices Against Your Money” aims to achieve electoral integrity in the next parliament, to oppose the use of political money to influence the will of the voters, as well as to use it later to enhance the role of civil society organizations in monitoring “electoral financing and spending”, and to ensure the commitment of candidates and parties Governing legal frameworks.

The initiative will be implemented in five governorates across the country, “Cairo, Fayoum, Alexandria, Dakahlia, Port Said,” and the governorates and districts within each governorate were selected to give a good indication of the nature of funding and financial spending throughout the electoral process.

For his part, Dr. Walaa Jad Karim, director of Partners for Transparency, said in a statement that the issue of “electoral financing and spending is one of the most important issues that determine the integrity of the electoral process, and the extent to which its final results express the true will of the electorate, and to what extent “Money” was influencing the political process.
