Partners for Transparency tracks 75 corruption incidents during May

As part of the “Corruption Notebook” series, “Partners for Transparency” has been released PFT ” The twenty-third report in the Corruption Status Book series of reports.
The report dealt with monitoring and analysis of legislative and procedural developments related to combating corruption, as well as listing the facts that were revealed during the month of May 2017 and classifying them in sectors, geographies and judiciary.
May 2017 witnessed the holding of a number of events and activities in some academic institutions, ministries, and government departments in the context of awareness and education related to combating corruption, and there were frequent statements by some officials related to the nature of the general trend and political performance related to fighting corruption and wasting public money.
The supervisory performance of the House of Representatives this month is dominated by the submission of a number of requests for information related to incidents of corruption and waste of public money, while the legislative role is still completely absent in this regard, and the month of May 2017 witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between administrative control and the World Bank in the field of strengthening governance.

 

 

Monitoring data in May indicated that the local sector came in first place among corruption incidents, with 15 incidents, while the Ministry of Supply ranked second with 13 corruption incidents, followed by the Ministry of Health with 11 incidents of corruption, then the Ministry of Education came with 5 incidents, then The Ministry of Interior with a balance of 4 incidents, followed by each of the Ministry of Finance, Housing and Endowments with 3 incidents of corruption each..
Judiciary, the incidents under investigation still came first among corruption incidents during May 2017, as the largest percentage was recorded at 64% out of a total of 75 incidents, followed by the incidents under trial with a score of 20%, then came the facts that were judged by 9 %. It achieves the last place by 7%.
Geographically, Cairo governorate still acquired the largest share of corruption incidents during May 2017, as it obtained 22 incidents of corruption during May 2017, followed by Giza governorate with 13 incidents of corruption, then Qalyubia governorate comes with 10 incidents, followed by Alexandria governorate with 8 incidents..
