Walaa Jad, director of the Partners for Transparency Foundation, said that the ruling on researcher Islam Behairy is catastrophic and does not comply with calls to fight terrorism and spread freedoms.

Gad added, in a special statement to "The Journal of Egypt", that this ruling indicates the existence of laws, legislations and institutions in the country that are unable to combat terrorism, and are not serious about putting forward the idea of renewing the religious discourse.
