Corruption Status Book: with 16 incidents, “Ministry of Supply” tops the month of January

Under the series " Corruption Status Book“Partners for Transparency” PFT issued the nineteenth report, which included monitoring and analyzing corruption incidents, in January 2017, as the institution monitored 66 corruption incidents during the month, which were revealed by the various stakeholders.

While there has been no change in the legislative or institutional environment related to combating corruption, and the month has only witnessed repeated statements here and there by a number of officials, all of them talking about fighting corruption, without translating these statements further.

In terms of facts, the Ministry of Supply still ranks first among corruption incidents with a score of 16, followed by the local sector with 11 incidents of corruption, then each of the Ministry of Education, Agriculture and Health comes with 6 incidents for each of them, then comes the Ministry of Information, Endowments and Electricity A score of two events for each of them.

76% cases are under investigation

As for the judicial position, the report revealed that the incidents under investigation still ranked first among corruption incidents during the month of January 2017, where the largest percentage was recorded at 76%, followed by the incidents under trial with 23% of the total incidents, then the incidents that were judged last. Cairo has 21 incidents

As for the geographical distribution, Cairo governorate still accounts for the largest share of corruption incidents, as it witnessed 21 incidents of corruption, followed by Qalyubia governorate with 6 incidents, followed by Giza and Eastern governorates with 5 incidents for each of them, while Beheira, Menoufia, Gharbia, New Valley and Assiut each witnessed 3 incidents for each.
