International praise for Egypt's efforts in combating corruption and enhancing cooperation

Dr. Sahar Nasr, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, met with Kristalina Gjirojeva, General Administrative Director of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Development Association, who praised the efforts made by Egypt in combating corruption.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mirza Hassan, Director of Egypt at the World Bank, Minister Plenipotentiary Ragi Al-Atribi, Executive Director of Egypt at the Bank, and Asaad Alem, Regional Director of the Bank in Egypt, on the sidelines of the Minister heading the Egyptian delegation to the Spring Meetings of the World Bank in Washington.

The minister began the meeting by congratulating Cristalina on her new position in the World Bank, expressing her aspiration to strengthen relations between Egypt and the bank during the next stage.

Kristalina expressed her hope to continue working together with the minister, given her previous experience while working at the World Bank.

The two sides discussed cooperation in the field of governance, as the Minister indicated that the government looks forward to benefiting from the experience of the World Bank in this field, and its support for a number of countries in building open, effective and accountable institutions to achieve development that includes everyone, and the Minister touched on Egypt's experience in combating corruption. Emphasizing the role of regulatory agencies in Egypt in this field, and addressing all its forms in various state agencies and institutions, within the framework of work to strengthen state institutions and upgrade their role and maximize benefit from them.

Kristalina praised Egypt's efforts in governance and combating corruption, as she announced the bank’s approval to support Egyptian efforts in the field of governance, which would be reflected in improving the governance index in international reports issued by the World Bank, and working to highlight Egypt as a developing and pioneering country in this field. .

At the end of the meeting, the Minister extended an invitation to Cristalina to visit Egypt, and the Bank's General Administrative Director welcomed the invitation and promised to meet it as soon as possible.
