Citizens for Transparency
Partners for Transparency Foundation (which holds the consultative status of the Economic and Social Council at the United Nations) invites Egyptian youth from different governorates to join its new program “Citizens for Transparency” and take advantage of the training opportunity, and then work with the Foundation from their governorates. It is required of the program to read carefully the attached terms of reference, fill out the participation application form and send it to the institution through the means described below, no later than July 5, 2018.
About
"Partners for Transparency" is a non-governmental organization, registered in accordance with the provisions of Egyptian law under the number "9729" in December 2014, that respects independence and neutrality "politically" and "ideologically". The Foundation works within the framework of helping society to establish and implement the values and practices of integrity, transparency, And accountability, in order to achieve comprehensive "human" development, respect for human rights, and the building of a good governance system.
The Foundation holds the consultative status of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, and it bases its work on an intellectual and legal framework closely related to the international system for the protection of human rights, the axioms of social development, and the standards of good governance.
Partners for Transparency seeks to help different stakeholders adopt anti-corruption practices that enhance transparency, integrity and accountability. The Foundation also works to provide information and facilitate its circulation in a way that helps the various actors to make good decisions.
Citizens Against Corruption Program
The Citizens Against Corruption Program is an initiative implemented by Partners for Transparency in a number of governorates with the aim of engaging youth and local civil society organizations in combating corruption by contributing to monitoring, detecting and investigating corruption cases, and developing local public policy proposals to ensure that these facts are not repeated.
In the context of implementing the initiative, Partners for Transparency aims to design and implement an in-depth training program for 30 youth cadres, with the aim of providing them with knowledge and skills that help them play an effective societal role to enhance transparency and accountability and help the state combat corruption within their local communities.
The initiative seeks to enhance youth participation in making and directing public policies to reduce the phenomenon of corruption and reduce its negative impact on the quality of public services provided to citizens.
It is expected that young people will work after receiving training to transfer knowledge to their peers, and then form specific committees of a popular nature in each governorate to play an institutional role in combating corruption through public awareness, communication with relevant authorities, presenting visions and applicable policy alternatives, advocacy, advocacy and lobbying. Etc.
The goal of the project
The project aims to enable young activists at the local level to play an effective role in promoting transparency and combating corruption, and then enhancing youth participation in public life and local policy and decision-making, through a two-day workshop with a full stay for the participants. During the workshop, the participants will be trained on several topics. Important: the definition and features of the phenomenon of corruption and the relevant legal frameworks, monitoring, documentation and reporting skills, committee formation and team building skills, methods of awareness of the role of citizens in combating corruption, and in general, these young people after completing the training will play an important role at the local level in implementing activities Awareness, then forming a youth committee at the governorate level, and continuous communication with a team of partners for transparency (the workshop will be held during the month of July), and young people will work with the Foundation for a period of 4 months with a monthly reward according to their performance in carrying out their tasks
The advantages that will be obtained by the selected youth
- Participation in a training program with full accommodation in a coastal city for a period of three days during the month of July 2018, and the Foundation will cover all accommodation, subsistence and transportation costs for the participants.
- The Foundation will finance the youth trainees' implementation of several activities in their governorates as planned in the program.
- The trainees will get a job opportunity with a monthly bonus from their governorates during the duration of the program, provided they commit to implementing the agreed activities.
Conditions that must be met by the candidates
- Young men / women in the age group 21 to 37 years old.
- Holds an appropriate higher qualification, or is a student in the final years of a university.
- Interested in public work, and has community activity at the local level.
- Able to work within a work system (team work).
- Familiar with local community problems.
- Has good communication and communication skills.
- Willing to work with the institution from his province part-time for a period of at least 6 months.
Responsibilities / duties that will fall on the participant youth
- Engage in an in-depth three-day training program in a coastal city that deals with the principles of transparency, accountability, advocacy, anti-corruption, monitoring and documentation, investigative journalism, field research tools, preparation of alternatives and public policy proposals.
- Implementing seminars to educate their peers in their youth in their governorates upon their return.
- Forming local youth committees to enhance transparency in their governorates.
- Each trained youth will hold an awareness session in his area for a number of 15-20 young people, and the partners of these sessions will be funded, provided that the previously trained youth carry out all the administrative, organizational and technical work to hold the sessions, and send documentation for each session with pictures and the participants reveal the full data Report on the session (30 targeted awareness sessions)
- A committee will be formed at the level of each governorate consisting of 15 young people, whose mission is to monitor incidents of corruption, waste of public money, negative practices, and communicate with decision-makers and decision-makers. The committee will be formed by young people who have previously been trained.
