The Egyptian Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation for Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue organized a multi-country virtual debate on the topic of youth, dialogue and digital entrepreneurship, and the title of the debate was “The digitization of companies should be mandatory after the era of the Covid 19 pandemic in the Euro-Mediterranean region.” This debate came within the framework of the Egyptian network’s keenness to promote Cultural dialogue among youth, especially in light of the current circumstances and the requirements of facing the challenges of the new Corona virus.
The debate touched on cutting-edge technologies that provide new opportunities to connect small businesses with customers via the Internet, with increasing concerns about cybersecurity breaches and a reduction in the number of employees who will be replaced as a result of this strong transformation. In addition to the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic, which forced millions around the world to remain quarantined and work from home.
40 young men and women from all over the Euro-Mediterranean region participated in this debate, from Egypt, Spain, Italy, Macedonia, Greece, Croatia, Poland, Jordan, Morocco and Turkey. The debate formed for two teams to represent two different points of view supported by arguments and facts, in addition to providing recommendations and solutions to such a controversial topic.
Young people participating in this debate recommended the necessity of digitizing companies in light of and after the Corona pandemic, and that it should be implemented in several stages using different tools and methodologies, in addition to introducing a system that can accommodate all people and support places that cannot be switched to a technological form of the business model.
The importance of this debate comes not only in that it deals with one of the important issues in light of the challenges that have been imposed on the Euro-Mediterranean region due to the new Corona virus, but also in emphasizing the importance of exchanging experiences and opinions between young people in northern and southern Mediterranean countries, and confirming that cultural dialogue is one of the important tools. To eliminate racism, respect diversity and accept difference.
It is worth noting that the Egyptian network of the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation includes in its membership 72 organizations at the level of the Arab Republic of Egypt and is currently headed by the Partners Foundation for Transparency, and that the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures is an intergovernmental institution that includes civil society organizations and citizens from all over the sea The Mediterranean includes 42 countries with the aim of building trust and improving mutual understanding. Its headquarters are in Egypt.
