Jad Al-Karim: We fear the absence of guarantees of fair trials in light of emergency

The notice

Hilal Eid 14 April 2017

Dr. Walaa Jad Al-Karim, director of Partners for Transparency, confirmed that the main concern related to the conditions of activists and human rights in general after the application of the emergency law is the path of trials, arrest and investigation.

He said, "Before the emergency, human rights defenders were charged, but we were facing a normal judicial path, and the executive authority was moving on orders issued by the Public Prosecution Office, and thus fair trial guarantees were available."

The director of the Partners for Transparency Foundation said in a press statement today: that the fear of the accusations directed against human rights activists is that they take an exceptional course related to the emergency law procedures and its impact on a fair trial, although the speech issued by the executive authority is more disciplined, but the authority’s speech Legislative and from the Speaker of Parliament calls for fear.
