Report: Egyptian prosecutors did not investigate 36% corruption reports in January

Within the framework of the “Corruption Status Book” series, “Partners for Transparency PFT” issued the seventh report, which included monitoring and analysis of corruption incidents, in January 2016.
It coincides with the release of Transparency International's annual corruption perceptions report, which showed Egypt's ranking from 94th in the world to 88th in the world, in addition to what the month witnessed in the statements of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi that included affirmations of the state's determination to fight corruption.

The month of January 2016 also witnessed the issuance of the report of the fact-finding committee formed by the President of the Republic to verify the correctness of the figures contained in the statements of Counselor Hisham Geneina, which he made in December 2015, in which the cost of corruption in Egypt was estimated at about 600 billion pounds in 4 years, as the committee concluded in its report that no The accuracy of the CAO report, and it referred the whole matter to the House of Representatives; As the supreme supervisory authority, the case was still frozen in the Council until the date of the report's issuance.

The report monitored 138 corruption incidents that were uncovered in January 2016, of which the Ministry of Health received the largest share with 23 corruption incidents, followed by the local sector with a score of 20 corruption incidents. After that, the Ministry of Supply came with 18 corruption incidents, followed by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Agriculture with a score 9 incidents of corruption, followed by the Ministry of Interior with 6 incidents.

With regard to the judicial position of corruption incidents, the report indicated that the facts under investigation came first among the corruption incidents during the month of January 2016, with a score of 89 incidents, followed by the facts that were not investigated with a score of 24 incidents. After that, the facts under trial came with a total of 22 incidents. Finally, the facts that were judged came last in January, with only 3 incidents.
