Partners stress importance of stimulating cooperation between public and private sectors to combat money laundering
Partners for Transparency continues to issue the monthly Corruption Records Journal, which focuses on monitoring and analyzing legislative and procedural developments related to combating corruption, in addition to listing the facts that have been revealed.
The “Partners” report for August showed a significant decrease in the number of corruption incidents, as 81 corruption incidents were recorded during August compared to about 97 corruption incidents recorded in July, representing a decrease in corruption incidents by 16.4%. The education sector came at the forefront of the sectors that witnessed corruption incidents with 30 corruption incidents, representing 37.% of the total number of incidents, followed by the financial sector with about 26 corruption incidents, equivalent to 32.% of the total number of incidents. The report indicated that Cairo Governorate came at the forefront of the governorates that witnessed corruption incidents for the second month in a row during August 2024, as it recorded 27 corruption incidents, representing 33.3% of the total number of incidents recorded, and equivalent to a third of the number of incidents recorded during this month.
Commenting on the report, Ahmed Issa, Director of the Research and Studies Unit at the Partners Foundation, stressed the need to quickly work on updating and developing the legislation related to combating corruption to make it more appropriate to the current reality, which comes within the framework of the Partners Foundation’s emphasis on the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors in areas such as combating money laundering.
