Dr. Walaa Jad al-Karim, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Partners for Transparency Foundation, said that he hopes President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will personally address the amendment of the protest law, and not merely pardon the youth, especially since most of those detained are pending cases because of the violation of the protest law or the terrorist organizations law.
Gad al-Karim added, in exclusive statements to the "Veto", that he hopes the President of the Republic and the government will initiate amendments to the Demonstration Law to Parliament, stressing that the amnesty for imprisoned youth is a temporary solution, and there will always be victims of this law inside prisons.
The head of the foundation explained that he agreed with the president, in what he said that there are oversight agencies that work well, pointing out that the best evidence for this is the arrest of the advisor to the Minister of Health in a corruption case, but the legal frameworks are still inconsistent with the constitution, to ensure the continuation of the work These devices, even after the expiration of President Sisi's term.
Gad al-Karim called for the existence of a package of laws related to combating corruption, on top of which is a law that protects whistleblowers and witnesses, as well as a law that regulates the existence of a coordinating body to combat corruption, who were absent from the President’s dialogue in Haditha about corruption.
