International and regional mechanisms

Partners for Transparency is committed to engaging with the international and regional mechanisms established to protect rights and promote integrity, security, and global peace, considering them a framework that supports civil society efforts in monitoring, advocacy, and influencing public policy. The organization works to utilize these mechanisms through knowledge production, capacity building, and the provision of contributions and reports that reflect the priorities of the Egyptian and Arab context in the areas of combating corruption, human rights, and disarmament.

International mechanisms for combating corruption

The United Nations Convention against Corruption is the most comprehensive international framework for combating corruption, covering prevention, criminalization, international cooperation, asset recovery, and capacity building. It serves as a key reference for states and civil society organizations in developing policies, legislation, and oversight mechanisms, and in promoting transparency and accountability.

In this context, the institution is concerned with monitoring developments in the implementation of the agreement and analyzing gaps between international commitments and national application. It also works on producing studies, policy papers and awareness materials that explain integrity standards, the roles of oversight bodies and paths of international cooperation in combating corruption.

International and regional human rights mechanisms

The human rights system is based on global mechanisms of the United Nations, including treaty bodies, the Human Rights Council, and special procedures, as well as regional mechanisms established by organizations such as the African Union, the Council of Europe, and the Organization of American States. These systems contribute to monitoring states' compliance with international standards, issuing recommendations, and promoting the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms.

The organization works to monitor the work of these mechanisms and simplify their outputs for the public through reports, analyses, and awareness materials that help to understand international obligations and how to employ UN and regional recommendations in reform, justice, and good governance efforts.

International disarmament mechanisms

Disarmament is a cornerstone of international peace and security, and it is carried out through a system of multilateral treaties and agreements that regulate nuclear, biological, chemical, and conventional weapons. This system includes international frameworks aimed at limiting proliferation, strengthening control, and supporting international commitment to arms control measures.

The organization follows developments related to the efforts of the United Nations and the international community in this field, in connection with their impact on human rights, sustainable development and the protection of civilians. It is also interested in highlighting the relationship between reducing conflicts and armaments and directing resources towards development and social justice.
