Alexandria prosecutor is investigating incidents of corruption in the Sharq district

Today, the Alexandria Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating the complaints filed by a number of citizens against the former head of the Sharq neighborhood in Alexandria, Major General Khaled Fawzy, at the Public Funds Prosecution, for accusing him of taking bribes and colluding with a number of contractors to prevent the removal of some violating real estate and failure to implement some legal procedures.
The prosecution listened to the statements of the former head of the Sharq district, after the Public Funds Prosecution in Alexandria issued a decision to arrest him and bring him on charges of taking bribes.
The Public Funds Prosecution decided to detain the deputy head of the Sharq district, Muhammad Abu Shabana, for four days, pending investigations, after the driver of the personal neighborhood chief was caught taking a bribe.
The records and investigations conducted by the Public Funds Prosecution Office proved that he had taken a bribe by a person to end some procedures related to the implementation of the decision to remove a violating drug.
The Public Prosecution's investigations with the personal driver of the former district chief indicated that he took a bribe from a person, in agreement with the district chief and his deputy.
The driver said during the Public Prosecution's investigations that he did not know the reason for the existence of the money, and that he was following the instructions of the neighborhood chief and his deputy.
Following the Public Prosecution's investigations with the driver, the district chief was arrested and brought, and his deputy was detained for 4 days pending investigations.
The Governor of Alexandria, Eng. Mohamed Abdel-Zahir, had issued a decision to dismiss the head of the Sharq district, Major General Khaled Fawzi, and delegated Major General Khaled Mohieddin from the head of the Customs district to the head of the Sharq district to succeed him.
