Partners for Transparency said that it monitored 94 incidents of corruption that were uncovered through the relevant Egyptian media and agencies last March.
The Foundation confirmed in a statement, Tuesday, that “for the first time, corruption incidents in the Ministry of Supply witnessed a relative retreat from last month,” 16 incidents in March compared to 17 in February, despite the ministry’s continued occupation of the top sectors in terms of number of incidents.
In the reports of the Corruption Status Book, which dealt with monitoring and analysis of legislative and procedural developments related to combating corruption, as well as counting the facts that were uncovered during March 2017 and classifying them sectorally, geographically and juridically, she emphasized that the general arrangement remains sectoral and geographic for corruption incidents consistent with what has prevailed since the beginning of the series. Corruption case book, as the supply, localities, and health sectors are still the most suffering from corruption and wasting public money, and the governorates of Cairo and Giza are the most possessing the largest percentage of these incidents.
The report revealed that the incidents under investigation came first among the corruption incidents during the month of March 2017, as the largest percentage was recorded at 74% out of a total of 94 incidents, followed by the incidents under trial with a score of 12%, and then came the incidents that were judged by 9 %. It did not achieve the last rank with a rate of 5% of total incidents, which means that 95% of the incidents under litigation.
The report indicated that a number of events and activities were held in some academic institutions, ministries and government departments in the context of awareness and education related to combating corruption, and there were frequent statements by some officials related to the nature of the general trend and the political performance related to combating corruption and wasting public money, and Parliament Representative Anisa Hassouna stated that the proposal was soon discussed The law submitted by them to establish a coordinating body to combat corruption.
