Today, Wednesday, the Foundation said that June 2016 witnessed a televised advertising campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of corruption aimed at modifying the behavior and values of citizens to combat wasta, favoritism, and bureaucratic procedures of officials in government ministries, and the month witnessed several statements by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi aimed at emphasizing the fight against corruption and the independence of regulatory agencies. As well as statements by officials and parliamentarians in the same direction, but he did not witness corresponding developments in the legislative or procedural environment, and June also witnessed the prosecution's investigation with the former head of the Central Auditing Organization, Counselor, Hisham Genina, about his statements about the cost of corruption.
In terms of facts, the report said that the Ministry of Supply had the largest share of corruption incidents during the month of June 2016, with 15 incidents of corruption out of a total of 83 incidents, among them what was revealed by the control and security agencies of the involvement of 38 officials in the manipulation of supplies of wheat and silos, which are estimated at approximately 315 million Egyptian pounds, including a senior official within the Ministry of Supply, and in second place, the Ministry of Agriculture came with 10 incidents of corruption, after that comes the localities with 9 incidents of corruption, then the Ministry of Interior with 7 incidents, followed by the Ministry of Investment and Transport with 6 incidents.
As for the judicial position, the report revealed that the incidents under investigation ranked first among corruption incidents during June 2016, as it received the largest percentage of 67% out of a total of 83 incidents, followed by the incidents under trial with 17 %, then the incidents that were not investigated came with a score of 11 % Finally, the verdicts ranked last with 51 TP1T of total incidents.
