Partners for Transparency issues its monthly report “Corruption Status Book” for the month of March 43 % Incidents of corruption rise and “supply” is back in the forefront of facts again

As part of the “Corruption Casebook” series, Partners for Transparency continues to issue monthly reports to monitor and follow up corruption incidents in Egypt, which focus on monitoring and analyzing legislative and procedural developments related to combating corruption, as well as listing the facts that were revealed during the month of March 2022. and categorizing them sectorally and geographically, with the aim of identifying the sectors that witness the most corruption incidents, as well as the governorates in which these incidents are most concentrated.

According to the Foundation's report, March recorded a significant increase in the number of corruption incidents, as 213 incidents were recorded, compared to 149 corruption incidents recorded last February, which represents an increase of 43% in the corruption rate, which is a worrying indicator, especially in light of the return of the high number of corruption incidents related to Supplying again, as 104 corruption incidents were recorded, with a rate of 49% of the total incidents witnessed in March, followed closely by the agriculture sector and land encroachment with 60 incidents and 28% of the total incidents under study, and the health sector came in third place with 18 corruption incidents and 8% of the total incidents of corruption.

Geographically, Al-Buhaira governorate ranked first in the Egyptian governorates in terms of corruption incidents during the month of March, with 18 incidents and a rate of 8 % of the total incidents, while 4 governorates combined recorded a rate of 28% of the total corruption incidents at the republic level, making them the governorates The most corrupt during March, and the governorates are “Buhaira, Gharbia, Alexandria, and Giza.”
