The “Partners for Transparency” Foundation issued a new study entitled “The Role of Digital Governance in Promoting Transparency and Combating Corruption: An Analytical Study,” in the context of the interest that the Foundation gives to the anti-corruption file and ways to enhance integrity and transparency, and both good governance and digital governance are considered one of the basic files. that the institution is working on.
The study indicates the positive impact of the digital transformation process on combating corruption, while emphasizing the presence of many challenges that hinder this matter, which leads to the importance of controlling the digital transformation process, in order to effectively influence corruption, and ensure the reduction of images that appear through platforms. Digital, which can be achieved through digital governance, whether at the government level or at the corporate and business sector levels, as well as at the global level.
The study also addresses the relationship between governments’ tendency toward digital transformation and their ability to confront corruption, through relevant reports. The study focused on the reports of both the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, through the Digital Government Index, as well as the Corruption Perceptions Index issued by Transparency International for the year 2023.
“Partners” recommends the necessity of establishing mechanisms to protect whistleblowers who report corruption within government bodies, through the use of digital platforms, and the use of data analytics and artificial intelligence to identify patterns of corruption and fraud in government operations. Civil society organizations should also work to provide comprehensive training programs for employees about Digital governance, cybersecurity and ethical behavior practices, as well as encouraging the use of digital payments in government transactions to reduce the use of cash and mitigate the risks of embezzlement.
