Jurists: Egypt's membership in the Human Rights Council confirms the strength of foreign diplomacy

A number of jurists praised Egypt as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the period from 2017 to 2020, after it won 173 votes during the elections held at the United Nations General Assembly, which is considered one of the highest levels of support for the candidate countries, explaining That her choice indicates the status of Egypt and the strength of its diplomacy abroad, pointing out that Egypt is moving well towards building a modern civil state that surpasses human rights values.

Wala Gad, President of Partners for Transparency, described Egypt's choice for human rights membership as a good thing and confirms the strength of diplomacy abroad and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, explaining that this matter indicates the great position that Egypt enjoys at the international level, and its pioneering role in enhancing security and stability in Middle East and Africa.

"Gad" stated that choosing Egypt is an opportunity to adhere to human rights standards, consolidate the principles of international law and respect the United Nations Charter at the international level, pointing out that Egypt should be a model for all countries in preventing violations and respecting human rights.

Yasser Abdel Aziz, a member of the National Council for Human Rights, affirmed that choosing Egypt as a member of the Human Rights Council is an important matter that will make it work to safeguard human rights principles and serve it in the world.

Hafez Abu Saada, a member of the National Council for Human Rights, praised Egypt as a member of the Human Rights Committee, explaining that Egypt has a great role in the region and is expected to play a vital role through this membership.

Abu Saada pointed out that Egypt's obtaining membership means that it must preserve human rights within it, and issue a law for NGOs that does not include any restrictions on civil work.
