Dr. Walaa Jad Al-Karim, president of the Partners for Transparency Foundation, said that Turkey's consideration of re-establishing the death penalty after the failure of the military coup makes its chances of joining the European Union impossible, especially since one of the main conditions for joining the European Union is the abolition of the death penalty.

In exclusive statements to the "Veto", Jad al-Karim indicated that international human rights reports during the last ten years confirm that Turkey is one of the most violations of political rights and freedoms, pointing out that the Erdogan faction within the Justice and Development Party is practicing its fierce attack on narrowing the public sphere further. Of rights and freedoms.

He continued, "The next few months Turkey will witness arbitrary practices by Erdogan on the ground in order to abuse the opposition and pass the constitutional amendments, as he is now not interested in their country joining the European Union, but rather seeks to consolidate the foundations of his rule after the coup."
