It also affirms its respect for the commitment of the outgoing President Muhammad Issoufou to the constitutional period specified, as the presidential elections took place in their first round on the twenty-seventh of December 2020, among 30 candidates, none of whom could win the 50% percentage of the votes of the electorate, which led to a round Re-among the candidates with the most votes in the first round, between Muhammad Bazoum, the ruling party's candidate, who got 39.33% of votes, and Osman Mahamani, who got 16.99%.

But the second round was more competitive among the candidates, as the National Election Commission in Niger announced that the winning candidate in the elections that took place on February 21, 2021, was Mohamed Bazoum, who won 55.75% of votes, while his rival Mahamani Othman won 44.25.

Despite the existence of electoral violence, which is a prevalent feature in most elections in African countries, due to the failure of the losing candidate to recognize the election result and to say that there are violations that led to a change in the outcome of the counting process, the ECOWAS mission monitoring the elections confirmed that An atmosphere of transparency, integrity and freedom prevailed in the second round of the presidential elections in Niger.
