With the approaching race for the House of Representatives, candidates struggle to mobilize the votes of voters by several means, some of which are legal, and the others are incompatible with the law on the exercise of political rights. Therefore, Egyptian and international civil society organizations are ready to monitor the electoral process as soon as the Supreme Elections Committee announces the timetable for the last elections The road map, and the opening of the candidacy papers.

This comes after the Supreme Council for the elections announced, last Sunday evening, that about 63 local organizations were accepted to monitor the elections, by 94 thousand observers, in addition to 5 foreign organizations, by 790 observers and 180 translators, to ensure greater opportunities for integrity and transparency.

International observation
Ayman Aqil, head of the Maat Foundation for Peace and Development and the coordinator of the joint international mission to follow up on the parliamentary elections, said that the mission will participate in the follow-up and monitoring of the parliamentary elections by about two thousand and 15 local observers, distributed in 164 departments, at the level of the governorates of the republic, and that they began their work immediately after the announcement The Supreme Elections Committee timetable and open the door for candidacy.

Akil added that the mission includes 500 international observers, whose work begins 4 days before the start of the polling process in the first phase in preparation for carrying out their duties in monitoring, analysis and follow-up, indicating that the joint international mission to monitor the elections will allocate an operations room within the Maat Foundation. »To monitor complaints and violations that may mar the electoral process to ensure integrity and transparency.

Upper Egypt families
Naguib Gabriel, head of the Egyptian Federation for Human Rights, indicated that the union was prepared to monitor the electoral process, with about 375 observers, to monitor electoral violations during the first and second stages.

Gabriel emphasized that the union’s activity during the first phase of the elections, which is scheduled to begin on October 18th, will include focusing on the governorates of El-Mina, Assiut, and Sohag in Upper Egypt, in addition to the governorates of Fayoum and Giza, to monitor violations that are expected to occur in The circles controlled by certain families.

Monitor electoral spending
Dr. Walaa Jad Al-Karim, Director of the Partners for Transparency Foundation, explained that the Foundation will participate with 295 observers and observers of the electoral process, in addition to 5 committees to assess electoral funding and spending.

He pointed out, “Jad Al-Karim”, that the activities of the Partners Foundation for Transparency includes 5 departments at the level of 5 governorates, namely: Cairo, Alexandria, Dakahlia, Port Said and Fayoum.

And Dr. Walaa Jad Al-Karim announced earlier the launch of an initiative to monitor the financial spending of the election campaign for the next parliament’s candidates, under the slogan “Our Voices Against Your Money”. The initiative will include about 20 individuals divided between a financial analyst and an observer, as well as volunteers to collect the necessary information and reveal the Electoral offenses.
