The Administrative Control Authority announced the arrest of the Secretary-General of the State Council, Counselor Wael Shalaby, in implementation of the decision of the Attorney General regarding his accusation in the case of major bribery, in which Jamal al-Laban and two of the owners of private companies are accused.

The Special Council of the State Council, “the highest administrative authority in the State Council,” issued a decision accepting the resignation of the Council’s Secretary General, Chancellor Wael Shalaby. The Council also decided to appoint Adviser Fouad Abdel Fattah to undertake the duties of the Secretary-General position.

The Council decided to form a committee headed by Counselor Yasser Al-Kurdini, Vice President of the State Council, and a representative of the Ministry of Finance, a representative of the Central Auditing Organization, and some employees of the Administrative Inspection Department of the State Council to examine all documents pertaining to all contracts concluded by the State Council during the past 5 years to determine their conformity with the law.

The State Council affirmed, in a statement issued a short while ago, that it does not cover up any corruption or act that constitutes a violation of the law, regardless of whoever commits it.
