Tax officials suspended from charging 165,000 pounds to return 15 million pounds to a company

A court ruling issued by the Disciplinary Court of the State Council in Case No. 42 of the 57th Judicial Year revealed that officials at the Joint Stock Companies Tax Office had paid 165,000 pounds as a bribe, in return for returning 15.3 million pounds to a contracting company.

The court stated, in the reasons for its ruling, that the defendants did not preserve the dignity of their job according to public custom, and took a behavior inconsistent with the due respect for the public office that they went out on, which would violate the dignity of their jobs.

The court confirmed that Tariq Abd al-Tawab Abd al-Rahim, a tax officer in the corporate tax directorate at the General Tax Authority, requested and took a gift for himself to perform a work from his job by charging an amount of 100,000 pounds as a bribe, in exchange for preparing an examination report that included modifying the tax exemption period as facilitating the return of dues Badr El Din Real Estate Contracting Company for the amounts owed to it by the General Tax Authority, which amounted to 15.3 million pounds.

According to the case papers, Ibrahim Mohamed Fouda, head of the Dispute Settlement Committee at the Joint Stock Companies Tax Office at the Public Tax Authority, requested and took a gift for himself to perform a work from his job by charging an amount of 65,000 pounds as a bribe in return for the committee's decision to amend the exemption period to refund the amounts owed to Badr Company The debt for real estate contracting for the amounts owed to them by the General Tax Authority, which amounted to 15.3 million pounds.

The court concluded that the two defendants were given a six-month suspension from work, with half of the wage paid based on the fact that what was attributed to them is proven in their right as a proof of certainty based on the criminal judgment issued to punish them with strict imprisonment for a period of three years each, and the first fine of 100,000 pounds, and the second 65 thousand pounds The amount of the bribe is confiscated.

The ruling was issued under the leadership of Counselor Ahmed Abdel Jalil, Vice President of the State Council, and the membership of Advisors Muhammad Bandari and Shaban Matar, and the presence of Counselor Fawzi Abdel Hadi, Head of the Administrative Prosecution, representing the prosecution.
