Partners for Transparency commends oversight, executive and judicial efforts to combat corruption during December 2024
Partners for Transparency Foundation issued its monthly report “Corruption Report for December 2024”, which revealed a significant decrease in the number of corruption incidents recorded compared to last November, as 71 corruption incidents were recorded compared to 81 incidents in the previous month, representing a decrease of 12.3%.
The report indicated that the financial and banking sector continued to lead the most corrupt sectors, with a percentage of 39,43% of the total corruption incidents recorded during the month, followed by the supply sector with a percentage of 23,94%, then the local sector, which recorded 18,30% of the total incidents.
Commenting on the report, Ahmed Issa, Director of the Research and Studies Unit at Partners Foundation, said: “The noticeable decrease in corruption incidents during December 2024 reflects the success of the regulatory, executive and judicial efforts aimed at combating corruption in various sectors, stressing that “the continued increase in corruption incidents in the supply sector and its advancement to second place during this month highlights the urgent need to intensify market oversight to prevent commercial fraud and control manipulators.”
Finally, the report recommends several measures to combat corruption, including intensifying oversight of the financial and banking sector, developing periodic inspection systems to detect fictitious educational entities, improving oversight in the catering sector, and increasing community awareness of the risks of corruption.
