Ms .Merna Shalash \u201c President of Partners for Transparency \u201c recommended ensuring compliance of all military and security operations conducted by the United States outside its borders with international humanitarian law and international human rights law<\/p>\n

On sidelines of the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council, convened a side event at the Palais des Nations on:\n\u201cEmergency Powers, Human Rights and the Rule of Law in the United States: Article 4 of the ICCPR, Transnational Repression and Extraterritorial Accountability.\u201d<\/p>\n

Keynote speakers included Professor George Katrougalos, UN Independent Expert on the promotion of a democratic and equitable international order; Professor Attiya Waris, UN Independent Expert on foreign debt and human rights; Mr. Abdelwahab Hani, former member of the UN Committee against Torture; Mr. Stefan Ziegler, humanitarian practitioner, Associate Professor and filmmaker; and Mr. Sharof Azizov, Executive Director of JPTi.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
