Partners for Transparency condemns Al Jazeera's celebration of terrorist Hisham Ashmawy<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

A new professional and moral fall for the Qatari Al-Jazeera channel, with which the remaining dry \u201cberries\u201d papers are dropped that hardly conceal the relationship of this media institution and the government that supports and finances it with terrorist, violence and extremism organizations<\/span><\/div>\n
The Qatari Media Forum, through its platforms, published an article on May 14 entitled \u201cHisham Ashmawy ... the other face of choice.\u201d The article - written by a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood organization supported by Qatar and Turkey - included an unprecedented glorification of the Egyptian terrorist, Hisham Ashmawy, in defense of his ideas. And in support of the terrorist acts that he had planned and carried out over the years, which he describes as "armed resistance."<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Ashmawy, who was executed in March 2020 after being convicted on charges of killing soldiers, officers, judicial figures, and innocent civilians, and planning attacks targeting ambushes for the army and police forces, and he himself confessed in videotapes of committing them before his arrest. A figure who embodies terrorism and extremism and is violent at a cost of ugliness, destruction and evil.<\/span><\/div>\n

After the article achieved its purpose, Al-Jazeera deleted it and offered an apology and claimed that what happened was an individual professional mistake.<\/span><\/div>\n

Partners for Transparency - as the head of the Egyptian National Network of the Analind Foundation for Intercultural Dialogue and a consultative status in the United Nations Economic and Social Council - expresses its rejection of all media practices supportive of intimidation, extremism and promoting hate speech adopted by Al Jazeera and the media platforms of the Qatari government In general, we would like to emphasize the following: -<\/span><\/div>\n

1- The time has come for the world to close the file of terrorism to devote itself to another danger that will threaten humanity in the coming years, which is confronting the Corona virus, and facing it will require the mobilization of all resources and efforts, changing many priorities and working on an inclusive common ground, so we must immediately start closing the \u201cDinosaur Park\u201d The background to terrorism \u201dwhich has been sponsored by the Qatari government for years, and forcing the Qatari regime to respect international legitimacy decisions, Security Council resolutions and Human Rights Council resolutions related to preventing the financing and support of terrorism.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
2- The practices of Al-Jazeera channel and its platforms represent \u201ca crude employment of media freedoms\u201d in support of terrorism and extremism and the polishing of groups that are themselves the greatest enemy of freedoms and personal rights. Therefore, the free world will pay a heavy price for its silence on this disgraceful and flawed media behavior. Therefore, we call upon the international mechanisms (especially The mandate-holders in charge of freedom of opinion and expression) as well as the international media and press organizations and unions to take a decisive stand and wash the "freedom of expression" out of the shame that will be attached to it as a direct result of Al-Jazeera's practices in support of terrorism.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
3- It calls on partners for the sake of transparency, the rational in the Qatari system, as well as the live forces that hate violence and extremism in the Qatari society, to assume their responsibilities to harm the practices of their (unelected) government and to stop this madness that governs the behavior and practices of Qatar\u2019s rulers and its media cultivation. We believe that the Qatari people are still able On "pulling matches" out of the hand of his ruling elites before they burn the world.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
