Introduction <\/strong><\/p>\n

Since the start of the January 25 revolution in 2011, social media has become an essential part of the lives of Egyptians and has become a public sphere in which a large sector of them participates and expresses their views, but social media has become a tool of pressure that expresses social movement in virtual reality. It reflects the demands of citizens due to the power of pressure and the ability to spread and reach the largest possible number of individuals to a degree that surpasses the audiovisual and read media, making it a tool for evaluation, control and accountability and provides an opportunity for citizen participation and achieving a degree of governance, which is reflected in the emergence of a new pattern of Campaigns and initiatives aimed at monitoring and combating corruption through social networks. Hence, this paper seeks to clarify and clarify:<\/p>\n

How does social media play a pivotal role in monitoring, accountability and fighting corruption in Egypt? Through a theoretical study of the emergence of the role of social media in the public sphere, then applying it to the Egyptian case by studying some initiatives and campaigns, and then focusing on the case of \u201cThe Power of Social Media\u201d due to the role it plays in exposing the corruption of some companies and exerting pressure and escalation against the wrongdoers. And the \u201ccatch bribe\u201d initiative, which sheds light on incidents of bribery and corruption that take place at all levels, starting with the local level, up to senior officials.<\/p>\n
