\nYesterday, Partners for Transparency Association (PFT) launched an initiative, the first of its kind in Egypt, to monitor electoral financing and spending in a number of electoral districts. The initiative bears the slogan \u201cOur Voices Against Your Money\u201d. <\/span>
\nAccording to Dr. Walaa Jad Al-Karim, Executive Director of the Foundation, \u201cPartners for Transparency\u201d, through the initiative \u201cOur Voices Against Your Money\u201d, seeks to contribute to achieving the integrity of the upcoming House of Representatives elections by opposing the phenomenon of using money to influence the will of the electorate, in addition to developing \u201centrances\u201d. Effective tools that can be used extensively later to enhance the role of civil society organizations in monitoring \u201celectoral financing and spending\u201d, and to ensure that candidates and parties adhere to the legal framework that governs.
\nThe initiative will be implemented in \u201cfive Egyptian governorates\u201d, which are the governorates of Cairo, Fayoum, Alexandria, Dakahlia and Port Said. The governorates and districts within each governorate have been selected so as to give a good indication of the nature of the funding, financial spending throughout the electoral process, as well as to facilitate the process of disseminating results and recommendations. And the tools that will bring out the initiative.
\nIn adherence to the principle of transparency and the involvement of various community parties in discussing the initiative and its details, Partners for Transparency has presented a \u201cbackground paper\u201d that clarifies the intellectual, legal and methodological framework that you will adhere to in the follow-up process, and includes a detailed explanation of the legislative frameworks and justifications on which the initiative is based, in addition to presenting the methodology that will be Following them, the axes involved in the monitoring process, and the targeted geographical scope.
